A Word About Life and Things

Are We There Yet?

While on a road trip with your kids have you ever heard the words, “are we there yet?” Kids have very little patience while traveling in a car. We, adults, are the same way with God. We want to get the things of God and we are in a hurry. We want ‘it” now and we can’t wait for “it” what every “it” is. We live in a time when the microwave oven is not fast enough. All of those endless seconds waiting for our food to cook. We are always in a hurry in everything we do.

God is never in a hurry. He takes His time when he deals with us. He is trying to build character in our lives while we wait on Him. God uses the time for waiting as a test for us. Will we trust Him? Will we wait on Him?  God cares for us and He loves us so much that he will not give something to us that will hurt us in a spiritual way. He is waiting for maturity to be developed in our lives.

When Abraham was 75 years old and Sarah was 65 years old God told them that they would have a son and that Abraham would be the father of many nations. After 13 years when nothing was happening, they tried to help God out. Sarah gave Abraham her servant Haggar. But this was not the promised child. When Abraham was 99 years old Sarah became pregnant with Issac. The promise took 25 years for the word of God to be fulfilled. Moses was in the desert for 40 years. It took David 13 years to become King and that was for one tribe. It took 20 years before he became King over the whole nation of Israel.

I may not have asked God ‘are we there yet’ but I have thought about it many times. A while back I started to receive many, many words from men of God. Some of those things have come to pass. If you are reading this this is one of those things that was spoken over me. A lot more things are to come and it has been 30 years since I received them.  Are we there yet? God has a plan for our lives. God may take His time but He is never late.  One preacher said, “but God missed a lot of opportunities to be early.” We will get there!

2 Corinthians 4:8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don't know why things happen as they do, but we don't give up and quit.
