A Word About Life and Things
Gifts and Talents

Every person on the earth has a gift and/or a talent
given to us by our Creator. It has been said that
the richest place on the earth, is the graveyard.
All of the gifts and the talents that were never
used, books that were not written, songs that were
not sung, etc. The dictionary says a Talent is
(a natural talent: flair, aptitude, facility, gift,
knack, technique, touch, bent, ability, expertise,
capacity, faculty; strength, forte, genius,
brilliance; dexterity, skill, artistry.) Every
talent is given to us by God and we should use our
talents for Him.
When I was a teenager I loved the steel guitar. So I bought a pedal steel guitar and took lessons and practiced often. After 10 years, one day I decided to record myself playing the steel guitar. When I listened to the recording I could tell that I was not very good. After all of the practicing, it was very clear that I was not very adept at playing the guitar. So I sold it. Too often we see other things that people are doing and decide that that痴 what we would like to do. So we chase after those things and we miss what God has already given us, our own talents and gifts. When we operate in our own gifts and talents everything is a lot easier for us to do. We still need to educate ourselves or practice so that our skills increase and we get better every day. When we are trying to do what we want, we struggle and the path becomes hard to travel because we are trying to do the things that we were not given the gift or talent to do. When I was 50 years old I still did not know what I wanted to be when I grew up. Then the Lord had me look back at the things I had done. I loved making things, custom furniture, toy plans, church things, software, and many other things. I may not be able to play a steel guitar, but I can make tools sing. God has given me the talents to make or build anything. I very much like making things for God痴 house, more than any other thing I may do. We all have riches inside of us.
