The Sculpture
When Michelangelo was commissioned to sculpt a
statue of David. He chose a 14 foot tall piece
marble that had a lot of flaws in it, and weighed
more than 6 tons. That piece of marble had been
around for many years, because of the flaws in it.
He started carving the statue in 1501. After more
than 2 years, the statue was completed. Someone
asked him how he could do such a good job.
Michelangelo said, I just removed the parts that
were not a part of the statue.
We , ourselves have a lot of flaws. We chastise ourselves and try our best to overcome our problems. The more we try to overcome those flaws, the worse it becomes. We try Psychiatrists, We use pills to help us sleep, but nothing helps. We cannot do it ourselves. We need someone to help us. Many people try God. They go to church, but nothing happens. They are still trying to do it themselves. We (try God) but that is not enough. We dont try, we have to submit ourselves to Him. We have to do it His way. We submit ourselves to Jesus. God said, come to Me, you have to go to My Son, Jesus. No one comes to me accept through Him. God will accept us with all of our flaws. We do not have to be perfect to become a child of God. He will accept us as we are. God never asks us about our past. He just says to come. When we accept Jesus as our Redeemer, we are born again. We become a child of God, immediately. Over time God will sculpt us, and remove those things that should not be a part of us. The closer we get to God, the more He will remove those flaws, and we become more like Him. He will sculpt us to become a perfect person in Him. We may not be perfect now, but we can and will be perfect in Him. Lives are changed, when God is on the throne of our hearts. We become more like Him, when we submit ourselves to Him. New King James Version John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. New King James Version John 3:15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. |
