Bread of Life
From the beginning of time, man has made bread.
Bread is a staple in our diet. Bread is made from
flour but has also been made from other grains such
as rye, barley, corn, sorghum, millet and rice.
Bread is eaten with many of our meals. Bread is
nourishment for our bodies.
There is another bread that is a nourishment for our souls, and that is the Word of God. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus is the Word of God. Jesus said "For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." He also said "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." The bread is what Jesus gives, and is life and nourishment for our souls. Without that bread from heaven there is no life in us. We were dead because of our sins. Jesus came to give us life, everlasting. We need the bread of heaven more than the bread for our bodies. We need to eat every day at Jesus feet, for His bread gives us nourishment for our souls. We also need to read the Word of God everyday, for that is where we find the bread of life. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– New King James Version Isaiah 55:2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? New King James Version Deuteronomy 8:3 "So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. He who eats this bread will live forever." |
