A Word About Life and Things

The Bible

The Bible has been compared to other works of men, such as Shakespeare. These other books were thought of as an equal to the Bible. The big difference is it was not written by one man; the Bible was written by forty different men in over 1500 years, and the author is God. The Bible was written by the inspiration of God to the men who wrote the Word of God. There is a single thread running through it all with no discrepancies. It is one continuous Book over the 1500 years.

Isaiah talks about the virgin birth 700 years before Jesus was born. Mica tells of the city that Jesus was born in. Zechariah tells of the way Jesus will die. David states how Jesus dies, 1,000 years before Jesus dies by Crucification, and that was 500 years before Crucification was invented. He also told of the men who gambles for His clothes. Daniel in 500 BC talks about an empire that was risen up and covers the earth and is suddenly cut off and becomes four empires. Those four empires will become two empires, and then those two empires would become one empire, and during that last empire the messiah would be born. 500 years before in 300BC, Alexander the Great arises and becomes the greatest empire in the world, it is suddenly cut off when he dies at 32. He has four generals the becomes four empires. Two are strong, two are weak. Two of them turn into the Roman Empire. During the Roman Empire Jesus is born.

Jesus quoted 30 of the 39 books in the Old Testament. The Bible states that the Scriptures are the inspired writings of God. All Scripture is the breath of God. The Bible can’t be false. 99.6% of the Bible has been verified by scholars in historical documents. There are 53 prophecies in the Old Testament. The 53 prophecies were too many to study. So Scholars took eight of the prophecies and studied to see if they came true. They found that eight prophecies did come true and was said to be 1 in 10 to the 17th power. That is a very large number. It was likened to placing one silver dollar coin in the middle of Texas, and then placing more silver dollars, touching the first one, and each other,  and continuing until they covered the entire state of Texas with the coins. Then start doing it again until the coins were two feet high. That is the odds of Jesus fulfilling all of the eight prophecies. He did fulfilled all 53 prophesies, because He is the Son of God, He is God almighty.

The Bible is the living word of God. It has everything that anyone will ever need. Sin means a spiritual death. A spiritual death means a separation from God. God cannot be where sin is. The Bible shows us how to live. It also tells us what we should do, and what we should not do. It warns us of the coming judgement day. It tells us how to avoid Hell. It tells us how we can be redeemed, and how to be born again, and to have a relationship with our Heavenly Father. It gives us life and not death.

God said that “His Word is sent out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all He wants it to, and it will prosper everywhere He sends it.” The Bible can be summed up in one word “Love.”  For God so loved the world that He gave His His only Son, as a sacrifice for all of us. The Bible can also be summed up in two commandants, “we are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, with all of our soul, and with all of our mind.” The second commandant is like the first, “we are to love our neighbors as ourselves.” On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. No matter what our needs are, the Bible has all of the answers we will ever need. The Bible is more than words, it is the Word and the Breath of God.

      New King James Version
Isaiah 55:9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

      New King James Version
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him," `You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
38 "This is the first and great commandment.
39 "And the second is like it: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
40 "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

      New King James Version
2 Timothy 3:14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

      New King James Version
2 Peter 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

John 5:39 "You search the Scriptures, for you believe they give you eternal life. And the Scriptures point to me!
