A Word About Life and Things

Baptized

When the priest were going into the Most Holy Place, they had to be very careful in how they prepared themselves. They had to cleanse themselves and their garments. The first thing they did was to sacrifice a lamb on the alter. The second thing they did was to wash themselves in a Laver with water. The third thing they had to anoint them selves with oil. Then before going into the Most Holy Place they had to tie a rope around their leg in case they were struck dead by God.

When Jesus was crucified, we can now go into the Most Holy Place anytime we want. We no longer need a priest to go in our place. We also need to prepare ourselves before we can go into the Most Holy Place. We must be Baptized to go into the Most Holy Place. There are three Baptizes.

      1. The Holy Spirit baptizes us in Jesus: We must be born again. Jesus was the Lamb of God and He was sacrificed for our sins. Without Jesus there is no other way into Heaven. We cannot accept Jesus without the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one that leads us to Jesus, and convicts us of our sins.

      2. We are baptized in water: In being baptized in water we go into the water as our old self, and we come out as a new person. We are born again. Jesus was the example for us to be baptized. We are saying to everyone that we are a new person in Christ.

      3. Jesus baptizes us in the Holy Spirit: Many people ignore the Holy Spirit, and think He is not needed. The Holy Spirit is a person. He has a name, His name is ‘God.’ He is the third person of the God head. His job is just as important as God the Father, and God the Son, He is the God the Holy Spirit. Jesus said He had to go away so He could send us the Holy Spirit to comfort us, to lead us, to guide us. The Holy Spirit’s job is the most important job. The Holy Spirit will comfort us, He will guide us, He warns us of danger, He speaks to us with a still small voice. He is with us every day and will never leave us.

When Jesus was Baptized by John, the Holy Spirit came down from heaven as a dove and landed on Jesus. If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, how much more do we need the Holy Spirit. Before Jesus, God spoke to people through the prophets. Since Jesus, any Christian can speak the word of God through the Holy Spirit. Our strength comes from the Holy Spirit. We need Him every day. Our God, the Father, gives us life. Jesus, God the Son, gives us salvation. God, the Holy Spirit, gives us everything else that we need. He gives us direction; He comforts us; He leads us in the way we need to go; He warns us of danger; He speaks to us in a still small voice; He prompts us to help others around us; He gives us everything we need to live for the Lord.  We need the Holy Spirit to help us to do the will of the Father.

Romans 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
