East to West
Bill Buckner was a great baseball player. He had
more hits than Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle.
Buckner played for the Boston Red Sox against the
New York Mets during the 1986 World Series. In the
10th inning, he made an error when he let an easy
ground ball slip by him and let the batter make it
to the 1st base. The New York Mets went on to win
the game and eventually the pennant. Although it
can’t be said that his error let the Mets win, his
fans blamed him for the lost pennant and even made
death threats, For the next 30 years of his life
whenever his name was mentioned the error was also
mentioned. Even when he died in 2018 the error was
also mentioned.
In our lives, we make many errors and sins. God may forgive us but we have an enemy that is always reminding us of our sins. The enemy tells us that we are not good enough and we cannot do God’s will in our lives because of all the errors and sins that we have done. We beat ourselves up because of our past. We tell ourselves that we are not good enough and we cannot overcome our past. When we get saved and God forgives us, He tells us that He does not remember our sins. As far as the East is from the West, He removes our sins from his memory. Our sins are under the blood of Jesus and when God looks at us He sees Jesus and He does not remember our sins. We are a new person in Christ. We can, and should forgive ourselves. We can do anything that God wants us to do. ––––––––––––––––––––––––– New King James Version Psalms 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. |
