A Word About Life and Things

The Roaring Lion

Lions are the most powerful of all carnivorous animals. They were found in Palestine at one time and were very numerous. The old testament had six different words for the lion. Two of the words were ’The Roarer’ and ’to roar. Lions often attacked sheep in the presence of the shepherd and sometimes the villages and towns, devouring men. David once killed a lion to protect his sheep. Samson once killed a lion with his bare hands.

Satan is the “roaring lion” as well as the subtle serpent. He goes about seeking whom he may devour. His teeth and power were taken from him by Jesus who took the keys of hell and death when he died on the cross and rose again.

Jesus is “the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David,” yet also the Lamb, combining opposites. Jesus also gave us the keys and the authority over our enemies. Satan does not have any power over us except for what we give him. Satan is not like God. He is a fallen angel. Satan goes about like a roaring lion trying to get us to listen to him. When we listen to his words, that is when we accept the doctor’s word about cancer; and other things that people say to us. The only weapon that Satan has is the words we accept and dwell on and worry about and convince ourselves that something bad is going to happen.

Satan is the father of lies. There is no truth in him. He uses words and whispers in our ears to get us to doubt what God has said in His Word. We overcome Satan (the roaring Lion) by our words “in the name of Jesus.’ What we bind on earth will be bound in Heaven. What we loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven. Jesus gave us the same authority that He had. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, Jesus quoted the Bible. We can do the same. Get to know His word and then when we are tempted we quote God’s word back to our enemies. Satan only has words to throw at us. We use God’s words to stop him in his tracks. We come against Satan ‘in the Name of Jesus.’ We have the authority of Jesus ‘in His Name.’
