A Word About Life and Things

Don't Eat That

Every day someone comes along and says, this is what you should eat or not eat. Don’t drink coffee, don’t eat eggs, and many other things. Then someone else comes along and says that coffee is good for you and someone else says that eggs are good for you. They can’t make up their minds and we believe whatever they may say because they have a national audience. Even our doctors believe all of the lies that people say.

A few years ago eating bran was thought to be the best thing since sliced bread; now not so much anymore. It seems that we will believe anything that a self-proclaimed ‘expert’ says or does. There was a fitness expert in Australia that drank protein drinks for every meal thinking she was doing her body good. She died at the age of 26, why? Because she was not eating a balanced diet.

Most diets will work. We go on a non-protein diet, a low-carb diet, or a non-fat diet. These diets do work for a little while and then we get tired of them or we gain back what we lost. If you want a good diet just start eating less. Eat anything you want, just less of it. Diet drinks are not good for us. They cause us to want more to eat. The lumberjacks of the early 1900s ate 20,000 calories a day, but they worked it off also. There were no fat lumberjacks.

We choose one of the many things we eat and decide that it is making us fat: Things like protein, carbs, or fat. So we go on a diet and do not eat those things. But! We cannot live without protein, carbohydrates, fat, salt, vitamins, copper, iron, and many more things. We all need a balance of these things to have a good healthy body. We need to pay less attention to what people are saying and more attention to what is good for us. It’s time for a piece of chocolate pie; a small piece. It’s not what you eat; it’s how much you eat.
